Our New Steubenville T-Shirt Logo Has Been Designed

chosen_themeThis year’s Steubenville Youth Conference theme is “Chosen: Because He First Loved Us 1 John 4:19.” There will be a Eucharistic Adoration event at the conference which will enkindle faith and forge a deeper connection to Christ. There will also be powerful talks, positive and constructive fellowship, and a whole lot of joyful fun. We have a phenomenal team in place, and there has been a highly organized effort underway to prepare. We have been stunned by all of the prayers and support we have received. It will be exciting to post our story about attending the Youth Conference in June!

Local mom and art teacher Cathy Zore assembled this new t-shirt design for our Steubenville group to wear at the Steubenville Youth conference. In order to keep our group together at the conference among the 2,000 other teens, we will follow the tradition of making customized brightly colored t-shirts for our group. This is a pencil sketch of what our t-shirt will look like. (The contrast has been increased to make it more visible as an image on our website.) This design builds on the design cues provided by the official ‘chosen’ logo and features a heart at the center. The words ‘we are chosen’ form a cross.

In one of our earliest meetings for Steubenville Youth Conference this year, we decided as a team effort to create and use “good deed beads.” Throughout each day, as we do good deeds and make small sacrifices, we move the beads over. This keeps God on our minds all day long and helps to ensure that we are committed to offering our days to God. In this picture, our team is actually assembling the good deed bead loops with beads, strings, and small crosses.

We held a hoagie fundraiser which both helped to pay for this conference and to grow our team spirit. We placed inserts into the church bulletins to promote this fundraiser, and all of the attendees also had the opportunity to sell hoagie orders to help them cover the costs of their Steubenville Youth Conference expenses. In this picture, we are sitting in iCafe, enjoying a beverage and counting up the orders and the money received. We made a list of everyone who ordered so that on delivery day we could give them their hoagies and simply cross their names off of the list.

Attendees, parents, and volunteers joined together to make over 500 hoagies for our hoagie fundraiser. This involved slicing ham, making stacks of cheese, assembling the hoagies, and wrapping them for distribution. Special thanks to Rich Aiello for handcrafting his special (and very popular) golden sauce.Steubie-teamTeens, parents, and volunteers staffed iCafe on the hoagie delivery day where our supporters stopped by to pick up their hoagies.
